United Nations

Thursday, August 31st, 2006

I worked from home today on a new site we’re doing for the United Nations. I’m already in the middle of a few large projects, but I really wanted to work on this site, so I worked from home and managed to get it all done in one day! All valid and compliant.

The Entrance To The Athenaeum

My dad sent me a really nice card after we met a couple of weekends ago:

Aidan,

Congratulations on all you’ve already achieved.

Please take a break from time to time.

Looking forward to seeing you again soon – scheduled late September.

Much love.

Dad

The picture on the card is of the entrance to the Athenaeum, A private London gentleman’s club which he’s been a member of since before I was born.

August Update

Monday, August 28th, 2006

Everything has been quite up in the air for the last month or so and a lot has happened:

I shaved my head on a whim.
Saw Miami Vice in the cinema twice with two different groups of guys and laughed our asses off at the terrible dialogue, but still walked out of the cinema with a strut and an over-exaggerated sense of our masculinity.
Saw Nacho Libre, Superman Returns, Cars and British comedy-horror Severence – all worth seeing.
Had an impromptu party at our flat and was molested by an S&M porn star (not joking – my flat mates know some interesting people).
Bought Sunday brunch two weekends in a row for my flatmates and some very hung-over people that ended up at our flat.
Saw my dad for the first time in a long while; had dim sum and then coffee with him in Soho.

This bank-holiday weekend I worked Saturday in the office, today (Monday) at home and still have sixty to eighty CVs to read and sort through, although that has been made a lot easier by the office manager, who sorted them into location, experience and availability for me.

CVs

Yesterday Sanj and I visited Jen for lunch – a designer who has unfortunately just left our company to go back to her home country, Australia. It was such a great day – she cooked lunch for us and we ended up spending the whole day there, just chilling, chatting and reminiscing, as well as watching iRobot, and finishing the day by ordering two pizzas and watching too many episodes of Scrubs.

I can’t imagine the office without her – she’s been there since long before I joined, she’s incredibly talented and has taught all of us a lot. She gave me this picture that she painted.

This next month is going to be absolutely crazy with the amount of sites we have launching and the amount of sites that I’m working on. I’m not going to have any spare time whatsoever, which is scary and exciting as the sites I’m working on are all excellent.
