I’m an uncle!

My sister gave birth last Wednesday evening to a little girl called Martha! I’m a uncle for the third time (after Nicholas and Maya, courtesy of my South African brother Murray and his wife).

Congratulations to my sister and brother in law – my sister will make the most amazing mum.

Last night I went out around Old Street and Liverpool Street with my flatmate John, our Finish friend Miika and a beautiful, nice Spanish girl, Carla – she came to the party we had at my flat and I haven’t seen her since. We started in a great pub called ‘Dream bags and Jaguar Shoes’ – the place was originally two shops bought by two promoters and they intended to knock them together, but in the end decided to just knock the wall down and keep the place as it was (as they were?). We had no idea where we were going after that, but managed to do a lot of walking and chatting and had a few more drinks in a couple of other bars.

When we got back to the flat we went upstairs and were serenaded by John and Miika.

Tonight I went to see Children of Men with my flatmates John (who worked on the film as a digital effects artist) and Mark, as well as Chorna, Miika and Ed. It was great to see Chorna again – It’s been too long since I last saw her.

Saying that this film is a little bit depressing is like saying World War II was a bit of a skirmish. It’s a horribly well made, fantastically devastating film that looks towards the near future and sure, there is an underlying theme of optimism throughout the film, but this isn’t exactly Sunday evening fun-for-the-whole-family entertainment that’s easy to watch. It is, however, an incredible film and absolutely worth everyone seeing.

The newly-released iPod Nanos look great in real life.

Congratulations on the birth of your niece (Martha)!!! :) I am so thrilled for your sister, her husband and your entire family. :) You’ve got to let me see her! Nothing but in person will do! ^_^

It was really nice to see you again, too. :) Check out my blog for an update on what I’ve been up to (a busy little bee indeed… or should I say “a busy little C”…?? Ok, that didn’t come out right…).

I’m really glad to see you posting again, although from the sounds of it you’ve been going out more often and getting through some very busy days indeedy! Always good for those scrapbook years. :)
